Where can you Role-play?

Updated: Oct 9, 2024

There are three main avenues for engaging in role-playing, and each with their own pros and cons.

  1. Table Top RPG - the classic D&D style of role-playing, where dice and luck determine the outcome of events. Even though it has table top in its name, with the change of times and technologies, it has allowed for virtual table tops (VTT) in which people are able to gather and play remotely.

  2. MMO RP - Do you enjoy the lore of MMOs like World of Warcraft or Elder Scrolls Online? Do you wish that you could immerse yourself even further? Then you can by joining an RP guild associated with those MMOs. This typically allows for larger groups or people to have missions and social events related to the stories of the game.

  3. LARP - Live action RP. A simpler version of this would be cosplay or dressing up for a renaissance festival. More serious versions of these have organizations or special events where people can dress up as their characters, and partake in quests or epic battles.

Examples of this would be the Hynafol experience in Texas or the Epic Empires in Germany.
